The press (9) has inking unit supports e.g. thrust bearing supports (3) and format cylinder supports (6), moved with respect to engaging motion of an inking unit cylinder e.g. thrust bearing (2), format cylinder (4) and counter pressure cylinder (5). An engaging system comprises an engaging mechanism, where a position of the supports is variably adjusted by the engaging mechanism. The system has another engaging mechanism with which one of the supports is moved away from the position adjusted with the former mechanism, and into another position. The latter mechanism has an eccentric tappet. The eccentric tappet is formed as eccentric spindle and eccentric disks. An independent claim is also included for a method for engaging an inking unit cylinder against another inking unit cylinder.
