The device has at least one gas tap (7) for a gas burner (1) with an associated electromagnetic valve (13) with a valve pin (23) for opening and closing a gas path (15) to the gas burner and a position sensor (23,29) that detects actuation of the valve and passes a corresponding opening signal to a controller (5). The position sensor is arranged in a housing wall of a housing of the electromagnetic valve, detects movement of the valve pin and correspondingly produces the opening signal. An independent claim is also included for a gas tap for an inventive device.
