A textile or leather cover accommodates the back area (1) of the chair, divided into a lower part and a headrest (2), which can be individually moved. Each of the lateral segments of the frame of the headrest (2) is fitted with a plate comprising a curved slot (12) for the insertion of two bolts protruding from plates attached to the lateral segments of the lower area (10). When the position of the headrest (2) is to be changed it is automatically adjusted in height in a first step and regarding the level of inclination in a second step.
