<p>The light mixing assembly (2) comprises a housing having a light generating device (1), and an optical wave guide (3). The light mixing assembly further comprises a rod-shaped light-mixing portion (8) made of transparent material such as glass, and a holding device (7) which enables the light mixing assembly to be mounted between the light generating device and the optical wave guide, in a detachable manner from the optical wave guide.
