An apparatus for presenting a time-variant information element in a vehicle, which has a steering wheel, comprises tactile input means and tactile output means, the tactile output means comprising remotely and individually controllable tactile output pad(s) (1820) producing a tactile sensation responsive to pad output signal(s) (OUT); means (1851) for determining a time-variant information element and for applying it to a controller (CTRL) for encoding into temporal variations of the pad output signal(s). The apparatus is capable of presenting time-variant information to the driver via tactile sensation. The tactile input means comprises tactile input pad(s) (1825), at least one being part of a bidirectional tactile pad (1800, 1800'), or one or more touch-sensitive areas. |
