<p>The invention relates to a process of production of an alkyl phenol comprising subjecting phenol to vapour phase alkylation, with an alkanol e.g. methanol at a temperature in the range of 250 DEG -299 DEG C. in the presence of a solid alkylation catalyst e.g. activated alumina. Preferably the alkylation is carried out at substantially atmospheric pressure and at a temperature in the range of 280 DEG -295 DEG C.</p> |
