In an electrostatic precipitator a number of resilient electrodes 5 are held in a frame between two of its opposite sides 1 which are provided with a number of electrode holders 2, each of which comprises a mounting plate 2a parallel with the sides 1 and having an aperture for the insertion of an electrode in the form of a slot 3 extending from a free edge of the plate, or in the form of a key-hole shaped opening, and further having one or more holes 4 for receiving one or more anchoring elements 6 secured at one end of the electrode, each anchoring element and its corresponding hole being formed with respect to each other in such a manner that the anchoring element, due to the resilience of the electrode, is caused to press against the mounting plate only along a common abutment line. The electrode, which may be in the form of a tightly wound coil is threaded through a passage 7 in the anchoring element 6 which is secured to the electrode by welding or soldering as at 8. The anchoring element 6 is conical and the hole 4 cylindrical. Alternatively, the hole is conical and the anchoring element cylindrical, Fib. 3b (not shown) or spherical, Fig. 3c (not shown). In another arrangement, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the electrode holder consists of a plate 9 secured to a side 1 of the frame and provided with a slot 10 and two holes 11 which receive two anchoring elements 12 mounted on a common plate 13 secured to the electrode 5. The slot 10 is widened at 14 for preventing direct contact between the electrode and the plate 9. |
