PURPOSE: A signaling method of image information and a decoding method thereof are provided to perform joint coding of information related to a prediction type applied to a current block, thereby reducing overhead of signaling. CONSTITUTION: An encoder signals information(skip_flag) which shows whether or not a skip mode is applied to a current block. When the skip mode is not applied, the encoder signals information which shows whether or not a merge mode is applied. When the merge mode is not applied, the encoder signals information(modeA_flag) which shows whether or not a mode A is applied. When the mode A is not applied, the encoder signals information which indicates whether or not one of the remaining prediction mode/partition sizes is applied to the current block with a direct mode.
