<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide foam molding process and die capable of inhibiting generation of an underfill section in a functional surface and a foam molded article. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A foam molded article 5 with a functional surface 702 of a given surface precision requirement is produced by foaming a resin foam material L in a cavity 4 of a foam molding die 1 in a foam molding process. The cavity 4 includes a functional surface molding section 401 for molding the functional surface 702 and a gas reservoir section 400 into which a gas A residing in the cavity 4 is driven by stream of the resin foam material L. A gas flow inhibition stepped section 200 is arranged in molding surface of the foam molding die 1 partitioning the cavity 4 for separating the functional surface molding section 401 and the gas reservoir section 400. The gas flow inhibition stepped section 200 inhibits the gas A driven into the gas reservoir section 400 from flowing into the functional surface molding section 401 over the gas flow inhibition stepped section 200.
