摘要 Disclosed is a liquid crystal alignment agent which can reduce microscopic irregularities on the surface of liquid crystal alignment films, improves liquid crystal alignment properties, and has improved electrical characteristics, such as the relaxation of residual DC voltage, and VHR/ion density. The liquid crystal alignment agent is characterised in containing: a polyamic acid ester having a structural unit represented by general formula (1), and having an end modified such that an amino group on the end has a specific structure represented by general formula (3); a polyamic acid having a structural unit represented by general formula (2); and an organic solvent. (R1 represents a C1-5 alkyl group, A1 and A2 independently represent a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted C1-10 alkyl group, alkenyl group or alkynyl group, X1 and X2 represent a tetravalent organic group, and Y1 and Y2 represent a divalent organic group.) (In general formula (3), A represents a single bond, -O-, -S-, or -NR3-, and R2 and R3 independently represent a methyl group, an ethyl group, a vinyl group, a 1-propenyl group, an isopropenyl group, a C3-6 cycloalkyl group, a phenyl group, a naphthyl group, or a heterocyclic ring.)
