A claw for a milking machine has an axially tubular passage 151 through the bowl (30, fig 2), lid 20 and pulsation manifold 15 of the claw, through which passage extends a clamp 10 with two stopping surfaces 12, 14 which sandwich the bowl, lid, manifold and a compressible biasing element 210 and which clamp compresses the compressible biasing element between the bowl and lid. A mating element on the clamp (14, fig 4) engages a mating element (316, fig 5) on the bowl to hold the claw together when the clamp is in a clamping position. The clamp is moveable from that clamping position to an open position to release the clamping effect. When the claw is in the clamping position, the biasing element is compressed and the clamp is under tension. The mating elements are a complementary socket and pin. A further rubber clamp seal 40 may be provided between the outer rim of the bowl and the outer rim of the lid. |
