A plectrum holder 1 for use when plucking or strumming a stringed musical instrument, such as a guitar, comprises a sleeve formed from a resiliently deformable material such as plastic or rubber. The sleeve has: a slit 2 formed around its periphery, into which the plectrum is inserted; and at least one opening (3) for exposing a corner of the plectrum. Gripping means 4,5, preferably incorporating ribbed protrusions or dimples, is formed on at least one face of the sleeve. The gripping means 4,5 is preferably symmetrically formed on both faces of the sleeve to provide increased friction for both finger and thumb, and may be moulded within the faces or adhesively secured. If ribbed protrusions are used as the gripping means 4,5 they may be elliptical or circular. |
