<p>PURPOSE: A substrate for a CIGS(copper indium gallium diselenide) solar cell and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent degradation of cell performance by including sodium in an insulating layer of the solar cell using a sol-gel method. CONSTITUTION: A nitric acid solution is prepared(S1). A TEOS(tetraethoxysilane) is added to the nitric acid solution as the precursor for forming silica(S2). Sol is formed by adding sodium nitrate(S3). The sol in which the nitric acid solution and the sodium nitrate is coated on a lower plate for forming an insulating layer(S4). The sol coated on the lower plate is dried(S5). The dried sol is sintered(S6).
