Use of coconut water extract or coconut shell extract for treating immunological diseases and/or disorders

A method for treating immunological diseases and/or disorders associated with tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in a subject in need thereof is disclosed. The method comprises administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of the coconut (Cocos nucifera Linn.) water extract or coconut (Cocos nucifera Linn.) shell extract through induction of transforming growth factor beta (TGF-&bgr;) or interleukin-10 (IL-10) as endogenous immunosuppressive factors.
