PURPOSE: A compressor for a refrigerator is provided to prevent the backflow of oil by operating a backflow preventing machine when a housing is turned into gradient condition from normal condition. CONSTITUTION: A compressor for a refrigerator comprises a housing(102) and a backflow preventing unit(200). The housing comprises a compression chamber for storing oil; an inlet communicated with an evaporator; and an outlet communicated with a condenser. The backflow preventing unit prevents the backflow of oil from the compression chamber to the evaporator when the housing inclines over a predetermined angle. The backflow preventing unit comprises a casing(210), a valve body(220), and a stopper. The casing has a taper bore of which the cross section gradually decreases from the housing to an evaporating tube. The valve body is closed when the housing inclines over the predetermined angle. The stopper prevents the separation of the valve body.
