The method involves moving a vehicle (1) on a travel path with acceleration along an axle of the vehicle, and determining a valve for the acceleration of the vehicle along the axle. Acceleration of a portable device (2) is measured along a device axle, and an inclination angle of the device axle with respect to the axle of the vehicle is determined based on comparison between the measured acceleration of the vehicle and the determined acceleration of the device. Speed of the vehicle on the travel path is determined, and the travel path is determined by a global positioning system. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computing unit for a vehicle (2) a computer program product with program code units for executing a method for determining position of a device axle of a portable apparatus with respect to an axle of a vehicle. |
