A prismatic type secondary battery is provided to prevent the breakage of a vent caused by external shocks such as falling, and save the time and money involved in forming a vent. A prismatic type secondary battery includes an electrode assembly, a can which accommodates the electrode assembly, and a cap assembly which combines with an opened upper part of the can. A vent(200) is formed between two neighboring corner parts on a wider side of the can, wherein a region(referred to as "a vent-deformable accelerating part(11b)") comprising the vent is formed thinner than other peripheral part of the can. |
