PURPOSE: An ice maker and a method for making ice using the same are provided to simplify a driving mechanism for controlling the operation of a lower tray because a pressing process is implemented only by rotating the lower tray on a rotary shaft. CONSTITUTION: An ice maker comprises an upper tray(11), a lower tray, and a rotary shaft(21). Multiple semi-spherical upper cells are arranged in the upper tray. The semi-spherical lower cells are arranged in the lower tray. The lower tray is rotatably connected to the upper tray. The rotary shaft is connected to the rear end of the upper tray and the lower tray so that the lower tray can rotate. A rotation guide part curved to a predetermined curvature is formed in a part where the upper and lower trays are interfered.
