Composition comprises at least one fatty substance, surfactant, oxidation base, quinoline coupler and optionally chemical oxidizing agent, where the amount of fatty substance is at least 25 wt.%. Independent claims are included for: (1) dyeing keratin fibers, preferably human keratin fibers such as the hair, comprising applying the composition to the fibers in the presence of chemical oxidizing agent; and (2) a multi-compartment device comprising a first compartment containing the anhydrous composition, at least one second compartment containing the first aqueous composition and at least a third compartment containing the second aqueous composition, where the compositions of the compartments are intended to be mixed together before application to give a composition after mixing the anhydrous composition and the first and the second aqueous composition.
