The prosthesis (10) has tubular member (11) housing a valve (20) for authorizing circulation of blood within the tubular member in one direction and preventing the circulation of the blood in an opposite direction, where the prosthesis is formed entirely of a biodegradable polymer material such as poly-l-lactide acid (PLLA), and the prosthesis is produced in the form of a weaving or a knitting of multifilament threads. A waterproof coating partly covers the prosthesis, where the coating is one of polydioxanone, collagen, e-caprolactone or a polymer of aliphatic polyesters. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a cardiovascular prosthesis.
