The method involves supplying heat energy to refrigerant in a point of a flow circuit (17) distinct from a evaporator (11), where the point is located upstream of an compressor (13) relative to flow direction (S1) of the refrigerant in a heating mode of a heat pump, and the point is interposed between the evaporator and the compressor. The supplying of energy is controlled to increase temperature of the refrigerant entering the evaporator and to reduce or remove formation of white frost on the evaporator, in the heating mode of the heat pump. An independent claim is also included for a thermal control device.
