The device (1) has a displacement mechanism for displacing plants trough (3) from a low position (4) toward a high position (5) and vice versa, with respect to a support structure (2), where the low position corresponds to a position in which a person in sitting position accesses a work surface (6) of the trough with hands so as to perform the work. The structure includes oval shaped loops (7, 7a) constructed from U-shaped iron. The trough includes a tube (8) inserted into openings of U-through ends. The loops and the tube allow the trough to move with the tube along the loops.
