PURPOSE: A spider and gimbal transportation device for a drillship and an operational method thereof are provided to easily transport spiders and gimbals to a well center of the drillship by a transportation cart detachably coupled to a catwalk machine. CONSTITUTION: A spider and gimbal transportation device for a drillship comprises a catwalk(100), a catwalk machine(200), and a transportation cart(300). The catwalk is extended from a drill floor(900) on which a rotary table(400) is formed and is formed from a stem of a hull to a stern. The catwalk machine transports risers or drill pipes(700) to the rotary table while reciprocating on a transportation rail(500) formed from the catwalk to the rotary table. The transportation cart is detachably coupled to the end of the catwalk machine and interlocks with the catwalk machine to reciprocate on the transportation rail. Spiders and gimbals(800) are loaded on the top of the transportation cart.
