An update control apparatus (10) has an acquisition unit (13), a classification unit (14), and an update processing unit (15). The acquisition unit (13) has an acquisition part for acquiring constituent element information indicative of respective constituent elements of a plurality of apparatuses (12). The classification unit (14) calculates a degree of similarity for each of the sets of constituent element information for the plurality of apparatuses (12) acquired by the acquisition unit (13), and classifies the plurality of apparatuses (12) into one or a plurality of apparatus group(s) on the basis of the calculated degree of similarity. The update processing unit (15) executes processing for applying an update method of a shared program to update a system, on the apparatuses (12) that have been classified into the same apparatus group by the classification unit (14).
