Building elements are prepared by moulding under pressure a mixture consisting of calcium sulphate plaster, water and at least 10 wt. per cent (based on the plaster) of calcium, dolomitic and/or magnesium lime, and allowing the mixture to set. The set moulded mixture may be hardened with moist carbon dioxide, e.g. with moist flue gases or with an aqueous solution of carbon dioxide. Multilayer elements may be produced by moulding simultaneously layers of different plaster mixes which may or may not contain fibrous reinforcing materials. Pigments may be included in the mixes and the set bodies may be protected with a polyvinyl chloride, silicone or wax finish. |
