摘要 The invention relates to a process for stopping an internal combustion engine, in which an amount of air which is supplied via an air metering device of the internal combustion engine, in particular a throttle flap, is reduced once an engine stop request has been registered. The time at which a threshold value is undershot is determined where a detected speed (n) of the internal combustion engine falls below a predefinable speed threshold value (ns). The amount of air which is supplied via the air metering device of the internal combustion engine is again increased after the time at which the threshold value is undershot, wherein the predefinable speed threshold value (ns) is selected such that an intake cylinder (ZYL2) does not enter any compression cycle after an increase of the measured amount of air until the standstill of the internal combustion engine, an opening degree of the air metering device for increasing the supplied amount of air being selected as a function of a coasting speed (nE) of the internal combustion engine.
