<p>A discrete Fourier transform circuit (201) calculates a first frequency spectrum in a predetermined frequency band from the detected signal in a predetermined sector; an expected value computation circuit (202) calculates a second frequency spectrum corresponding to an expected value signal for a pattern of digital information present within the predetermined sector, obtained through an optical disc (100); a branch metric computation circuit (203) calculates the difference between the first frequency spectrum and the second frequency spectrum; and a maximum likelihood decoding circuit (207) selects, as a decoding result, the pattern for which the difference between the first frequency spectrum and the second frequency spectrum is the smallest, and thereby decodes the digital information.</p> |
