<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection device that does not perform mis-detection of the volume of an ink drop due to paper powder and dust, etc. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid level determination device includes: a light receiving means that receives scattered light generated when the ink drop intersects the laser beam; and a mask 67 that interrupts the laser beam irradiating the photodiode 66. A detection device determines the volume of the ink drop based on the light received amount of the forward-scattered light received by the photodiode 66. Thereby, the effect is achieved to prevent the mis-calculation of the volume of the ink drop caused by mis-detection of interruption of the ray, when the substance other than the ink drop interrupts the ray. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
