<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion generation device which can efficiently generate functional components or reduce ozone as much as possible. <P>SOLUTION: An ion generation device comprises a discharge electrode 2 having a discharge part 1, and voltage applying means for applying an electric voltage to the discharge part 1. The ion generation device further comprises an X-ray radiation part 6 for radiating an X-ray.
