Novel Ferritin Having Iron-binding Activity and Gene Encoding the Same

PURPOSE: A gene encoding novel ferritin with iron-binding activity is provided to express a large amount of ferritin in a host cell without side effect. CONSTITUTION: An iron-binding activity polypeptide has an amino acid sequence of sequence number 1 or 2. The polypeptide is derived from Perinereis aibuhitensis. Ferritin contains the polypeptide as a subunit. A nucleotide sequence encoding the polypeptide is denoted by sequence number 3 or 4. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating iron deficiency contains the polypeptide. A composition for feed additive contains the polypeptide.
