<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved means of diagnosis capable of capturing blood samples at a plurality of locations along a length of a blood vessel to provide a profile of concentration levels along the length of the blood vessel in methods of diagnosis for identifying vulnerable plaque by identifying pathological markers. <P>SOLUTION: A catheter 4 for insertion into a blood vessel has a sampling part 6 arranged to capture blood samples at a plurality of locations along a length of a blood vessel.
