<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light guide having high condensing efficiency with respect to the direction (sub-scanning direction) perpendicular to the direction of arrangement of a light source (main scanning direction) and to provide an illumination device and an image reading apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The light guide has first and second light guide parts in front and rear of a constricted part. The first light guide has first and second side parts.
