<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an enzyme gene required for synthesizing a sesquiterpene from farnesyl diphosphate, and to provide a method for producing a sesquiterpene by utilizing the gene. <P>SOLUTION: A sesquiterpene can be produced by obtaining a novel β-caryophyllene synthase gene, a novel germacrene D synthase gene, a novel β-eudesmol synthase gene, a novel β-cubebene synthase gene, a novel β-elemene synthase gene, a novel α-neoclovene synthase gene, a novel α-humulene synthase gene and/or a novel linalool synthase gene and a novel nerolidol synthase gene, and introducing those genes into a host. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
