<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket that, even in a small connector, has a good feel when fitted into a header and that makes the fit between the socket and the header less likely to be detached from each other, and to provide a connector using the socket. <P>SOLUTION: A header-side holding fitting 40 is provided with an engaging piece 42 that is relatively movable in a width direction X of a connector 1 relative to a coupling piece (base) 41 of the header-side holding fitting 40.
