<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mixer that can produce a large multiplication signal and has a receiving bandpass filter function. <P>SOLUTION: A magnetoresistance effect element 2 has a magnetically fixed layer, a magnetically free layer and a nonmagnetic spacer layer disposed between the magnetically fixed layer and the magnetically free layer, and when a high frequency signal S1 and a local signal S2 are input, multiplies both signals S1, S2 by a magnetoresistance effect to generate a voltage signal (multiplication signal) S4. The resultant multiplication signal increases/decreases in response to the intensity of a resonance characteristic, and specifically, indicates the highest intensity when frequencies f1, f2 of both signals S1, S2 match a resonance frequency f0 and attenuates when both or either of the frequencies f1, f2 deviates from the resonance frequency f0. This has the same effect as the insertion of a bandpass filter, and controlling a magnetic field by a magnetic field application section 3 can provide a frequency conversion device having a desired bandpass filter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
