<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for modulating jet flow of surface plasmon polariton (SPP). <P>SOLUTION: An apparatus comprises: a substrate having a metallic surface; a structure: and a dielectric object facing a metallic top surface. The structure is configured to optically produce surface plasmon polariton that propagates on the metallic surface.
