<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanning optical system that suppresses an increase in surface inclination oblique incidence jitter in association with an oblique incidence system in a system where the number of synchronization detection means is smaller than that of scanning units so as to form excellent images, and an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An optical scanner is provided with synchronization detection means for controlling an image read-out timing of two scanning units. Control of an image read-out timing of a scanning unit that is not provided with synchronization detection means is determined on the basis of a synchronization signal of the synchronization detection means obtained by a scanning unit that is directed to a deflection surface that is different from a deflection surface of a rotating polygon mirror used for the scanning unit, and is made oblique incidence from a side different from the scanning unit relative to a surface vertical to a rotation shaft. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
