METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REMOVING CHROMATICITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To subject a chromaticity component in water to be treated to oxidative decomposition in a small consumption of an oxidizing agent to efficiently remove the same and to efficiently remove the chromaticity component and ammonia from water to be treated containing ammonia along with the chromaticity component.

SOLUTION: Water to be treated containing the chromaticity component is passed through a packing column 4 packed with hydrophobic zeolite in the presence of the oxidizing agent such as ozone or the like to remove chromaticity. In the case where the water to be treated contains ammonia, ammonia is also removed simultaneously along with the chromaticity component. The water to be treated containing the chromaticity component and ammonia is passed through the packing column packed with hydrophobic zeolite to adsorb ammonia and the outflow water of the packing column is treated with the oxidizing agent to remove the chromaticity component.
