<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a wire extending/contracting apparatus capable of feeding and taking up a wire with an appropriate force while suppressing an increase in the number of components and cost. <P>SOLUTION: The wire extending/contracting speed adjuster 130 includes: a roller 131 on which a wire 110 is wound; a roller shaft 133 penetrating a shaft hole of the roller 131; a bracket 132 that holds the roller shaft 133 and has a first side wall 132A facing a first side face 131A of the roller 131; and a high friction part 135 that is provided on the first side face 131A of the roller 131 and is made of a material having a greater frictional coefficient than that of the roller 131. The diameter of the shaft hole of the roller 131 is greater than the diameter of the roller shaft 133.
