<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for providing a tool for extending the service life as long as possible. <P>SOLUTION: During manufacturing of gear teeth, two flanks are skived using different settings, but using the same tool 100, continuously with the application of an alternating semi-completing approach. It is in the nature of the semi-completing approach that, e.g., all left flank cutting edges of the tool are used two times, while the right flank cutting edges are only used one time. Therefore, the same tool 100 is used to manufacture gear teeth in such a manner that the flank cutting edges subjected to a stronger load during machining of the first work piece 50.1 are now used less frequently in subsequent steps. This is achieved because the other flank cutting edges are used more strongly or frequently during the manufacturing of the second gear teeth 50.2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
