<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in a FFS (fringe field switching) mode, in which changes in a hue of an image depending on a viewing angle are decreased. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a pair of first and second substrates 16, 26 disposed opposing to each other; a pixel electrode 22 and a common electrode 18 formed on at least one substrate of the pair of substrates via an insulating layer 20, to which different potentials can be applied; a liquid crystal layer 24 disposed between the pair of substrates and comprising a liquid crystal material, in which liquid crystal molecules are aligned substantially parallel to the substrate surface while no voltage is applied; and a pair of first and second polarizing films 12, 30 disposed to interpose the liquid crystal layer and having absorption axes orthogonal to each other. A cellulose acylate film 14 or 28 having a retardation value in a specified range is disposed between a first polarizing film 12 or 30 and a first substrate 16 or 26 in the pair of substrates disposed nearer to the first polarizing film. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
