An image forming apparatus comprising: a first image bearing member (drum); a second drum; a belt; a first transfer unit; a second transfer unit; a first voltage applying unit; a second voltage applying unit; a detecting unit, connected to the first transfer unit, for detecting a value of a current passing through the first voltage applying unit; and a controller for controlling the first voltage applying unit and the second voltage applying unit. The controller controls the first voltage applying unit during image formation on the basis of a detection result of the value of the current detected by the detecting unit at timing before and after the voltage applied to the second voltage applying unit is changed plural times before the image formation. |
