<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve initial performance for restricting the lower back of a seated occupant, and to reduce a damage value in the lower back in side collision. <P>SOLUTION: In a small region in the lower seat side and rear seat side of a side airbag 22, a tethering 44 formed into a L shape in side view is sewn. In the small region, a small capacity chamber 46 is formed, and in the region excluding the small region a large capacity chamber 48 is formed. A lower part 32A of a diffuser 32 of a gas generation part 24 is inserted in the small capacity chamber 46, so that an inner pressure in the small capacity chamber 46 is set to be higher than an inner pressure in the large capacity chamber 48.
