<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video imaging apparatus capable of appropriately performing focus control depending on a position of a subject to be imaged. <P>SOLUTION: A first imaging part images a first video. A second imaging part images a second video. A subject identification part identifies a subject. When a video of the subject is in a predetermined range of the first and second videos, a distance detector detects a subject distance on the basis of the first video or the second video, and when the video of the subject is in a predetermined range of any one of the first and second videos, the distance detector detects the subject distance on the basis of the video in which the subject is in the predetermined range.
