<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with high reliability. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises an active area ACT including multiple pixels PX arranged in a matrix form, a first substrate AR with built-in circuits GDR, GDL, CLK and CSW arranged around the active area ACT, a second substrate CT arranged so as to face the first substrate AR, and a liquid crystal layer LQ held between the first substrate AR and the second substrate CT.
