The device (1) has a testing chamber (7) for performing material testing by tensile testing, compression testing and/or by bending testing. A driver device (27) to which a displacement gauge is fastenable at a fastening part. The driver device follows a traveling direction of a driving crosshead (15) by a gear box. A movement of the driving crosshead is transferable over the driver device with an initial delay by a delay element on the displacement gauge over the fastening part on the displacement gauge, where the delay element is realized in a rotation link of the driver device.
