The present invention relates to a method for upgrading the electronic control device of a vehicle and to the terminal for same. The method for upgrading the electronic control device of a vehicle according to the present invention includes the steps of: when there is new software for updating the electronic control device, transmitting, to a microcomputer which controls the power supply in the vehicle, a power supply maintaining signal which causes the power supply to be kept on during the updating of the electronic control device even after the vehicle key has been turned to the off position; updating the electronic control device of the vehicle with the new software for updating the electronic control device using the maintained power; and when the updating of the electronic control device of the vehicle is complete, transmitting a power supply blocking signal to the microcomputer.
