<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation device that can minimize the waiting time from reception of print data until the start of printing after reception of a request that presages printing. <P>SOLUTION: A printer accepts from a PC a request for checkup of print setting associated with print data. On condition that the request presaging this printing has been received, if the contents of print setting satisfy the conditions for starting preparatory actions for printing, the preparatory actions for printing are started before reception of the print data or, if the conditions for starting are not satisfied, no preparatory actions for printing are started before reception of the print data.
