1,082,378. Furniture joints. P. WOLFENSBERGER. Nov. 2, 1965 [Nov. 2, 1964; Feb. 10, 1965; March 2, 1965], No. 46390/65. Heading A4H. A corner joint assembly comprises a corner connecting piece C having projecting elements 30, 30<SP>1</SP>, 30<SP>11</SP> disposed mutually are right angles which elements are releasably engageable in the end of one of a pair of longitudinal grooves 11, 11<SP>1</SP> formed in an associated rail R, the grooves 11, 11<SP>1</SP> being separated by a diagonal web 6 of the rail R and being narrowed towards their base ends 21, 21<SP>1</SP>. The rails R are clamped in the assembled condition by screws 31, 31<SP>1</SP>, 31<SP>11</SP> which pass through openings 10, 10<SP>1</SP> in the rails R, are threaded through the elements 30, 30<SP>1</SP>, 30<SP>11</SP>, and bear on the bases 21, 21<SP>1</SP> of the grooves 11, 11<SP>1</SP>. L-shaped slots 17, 18 which may be stepped, as at 27, receive the edges of wall panels or of hinge parts 22. Corresponding slots 32 and steps 33 are formed in the connector C. In a modification (Fig. 6, not shown) the rail R<SP>1</SP> comprises separately moulded outer and inner sections 50, 51 which are detachably interengaged by means of resilient arms 55, 56 on the outer section 50. The thickened ends 55<SP>1</SP>, 56<SP>1</SP> of the arms 55, 56 may be retained in engagement with the inner section 51 by a tubular element 52 holding the arms 55, 56 apart. |
