An image-capturing device (18) outputs image data that represents an optical image captured on an image-capturing surface. A shutter button (34sh) is provided on the camera housing in order to accept an image-capturing operation. A communication interface (42) is built into this digital camera (10) in order to accept an image-capturing instruction from a smartphone that is connected ad hoc. A camera CPU (32) obtains still image data in response to the operation of the shutter button (34sh) or in response to an image-capturing instruction received by the communication interface (42). Also, the camera CPU (32) records, on a recording medium (38), the still image data obtained in response to the operation of the shutter button (34sh), and transfers, to the outside, the still image data obtained in response to the image-capturing instruction received by the communication interface (42).
